ARTIST FAIR
This show-case focuses on artists' skills and creativities rather than their works. There are only Dance show-cases in 2005 and the participants are originative and talented Korean dancers who received international acclaim. As the audience can concentrate on watching the dancers' skills, it will be a good opportunity to other genre artists who have plans of co-productions or collaborations with dancers. After watching the dancers' work, there will be meetings with the dancers.
PORTABLE DANCE SHOW-CASE
The pieces in the show-case are portable solo and duet works which is easy to perform for international tour programs and small theatres. The program will be helpful to international directors and festival programmers who have plan of introducing Korean performing arts and domestic arts organizers who need creative works for small theatres.
ARTIST (1) : KIM Sun- a
PROFILE
Ballet majored contemporary dancer KIM Sun-a graduated Ewha Womens Univ. estimated as witty, theatrical and technical dancer. And her technique purified exquisitely from ballet.
Recently her creations graft on ballet, mine and visual art diversely and featured domestically and abroad. Australia Adelaide Fringe Festival reference her choreography <My Wonderful Left Hook> as the highlight part choice and performed <My Old Giant Shoes> at Bangkok Fringe Festival as a invited artists and <Sayeonnamneo> at the 11th Korea ∙ Japan Dance Contact in 2002. She awarded the Excellent choreographing at ¡®Exhibition of Young Artists¡¯ which organized by Dance and People.
¡°Mime, some rather out of place contemporary quasi-ballet and beautiful solo cello played on stage all combine in this surprisingly successful production from Korea. The complex plot outlined in the handout is superfluous, detracting from the show's main strength - the two performer¡¯s extended mime sequences. They cover everything from childish play scholarly boxing ring. The other highlight is the unnamed cellist's passionate playing. Humor is frequent and often wry, and the 11pm crowd on opening night was warmly appreciative.¡± <Australia Adelaide Fringe Festival - Highlight ¡°My Wonderful Left Hook" Review, Celia Brissenden>
¡Ü TITLE : Bong-Byul-Ki (The Love Story about the Eternal Parting between Lee-Sang and Kum-Hong)
The Nobel <Bong-Byul-Ki> is interpreting with Ballet
"Bong-Byul-Ki", spreading in the space, is saturated with the concept of person and with the unfamiliar fact everywhere.
the noble "Bong-Byul-Ki" by Lee-Sang (1910-1937) who denied the traditional life style in 1930's. He broke the social custom and the Confucian morality at those days. It is not becoming a synchronization about the place and the specific event but this is a pathos about man and woman's "consciousness" and "time" who are extremely selfish and subjective. Lee-Sang, who is a genius and is dissociable intellectual. Kum-Hong, is uncommon Ki-Sang (a singing and dancing girl) unlike others. They are repeating a meeting and separation that is not persuasive and necessity. It is not different from us today who are dreaming fantasy love from the escaping of the life. When the "Bong-Byul-Ki" is drawing out from the novel, and be watched by ballet, this text itself will be a melody, rhythm and source energy that the person who express it with body will make the character to move or to not move. This work express the symbolical motion with ballet about the Lee-Sang and Kum-Hong's closing inside-consciousness. I hope this work will make the audience's eyes and ears enjoyable and can communicate with this performance.

Now she is based in Seoul working with her own project group.
¡°Fellow Korean Dancer Yong-In LEE convinced the Panel of judges with her mastery of her body, her presence, diversity, and intensity. She walked away as the competition¡¯s first prize dancer in her own choreography, Below the Surface. I agree with them, but what I remember most is her aestheticism and the amazing suppleness-though the theatre is small, you actually couldn¡¯t hear her move. To me, in a sense, she¡¯s really the antithesis of her precursor.¡±
